About the role: We are looking for a proven Medical Records Specialist who will have responsibility for overseeing and fulfilling medical records requests function in compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, as well as state and federal laws.
Responsibilities:
Ensure medical record processes meets all departmental, organizational, and regulatory agency standards.
Ensures completeness of the record by auditing charts and completing a medical records checklist.
Responds to requests for medical record, copies and maintains medical record tracking log
Monitors and reports performance and record completion statistics to appropriate medical staff, leadership and regulatory agencies including medical record delinquency and suspension.
Reports variances in record management and develops, implements and monitors action plans for resolution of the variances.
Confirms medical record information is protected and kept confidential.
Verifies that health record information is filed accurately and appropriately to patient charts, overflow records, and discharge records.
Verifies proper management and transfer of health record information as requested.
Identifies incomplete documentation (audits) and reports to individuals responsible for completion.
Qualifications
2+ years of Medical Records Clerk experience or equivalent recommended.
Thorough knowledge of medical records coding and medical terminology required.
At least one (1) year experience ICD-10-CM coding, in healthcare management/medical records or clerical field preferred
Certification accreditation as a registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), as determined by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) preferred but not required
Excellent computer skills
Pay range: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour. This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The employee may be eligible for bonuses and other forms of compensation.
